The new digital face of the Boyan church
The director of the National History Museum Assoc. Dr. Bonni Petrunova and the "Balkan Heritage" Foundation are pleased to invite you to the presentation of the new digital face of the Boyana Church on December 9, 2022, Friday, at 15:00 p.m. in hall 3 of the museum .
The initiative "The New Face of Boyan Church" is implemented by the "Balkan Heritage" Foundation in partnership with the National History Museum and with the financial support of the National "Culture" Fund. The project aims to enrich the digital content and communication channels of the NIM branch "Bojanska Church", which is part of UNESCO's rich list of world cultural and historical heritage.
As a result of the digitization process of the Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage, all the frescoes in the church were photographed and a 360-degree panorama was created of the chapel, which is not accessible to visitors, and is located on the second floor of the church.
The created 360-degree panorama of the chapel, which is inaccessible due to conservation-restoration activities, will can be seen for the first time at a special event, with free access, in Hall 3 of the National History Museum from 15:00 p.m. The digitized unique wall paintings are part of a new website of the Boyan Church, which will be presented together with interesting facts about the monument that have rarely reached non-academic audience.
2019 marked the 760th anniversary of the renovation of the Boyana Church by Sebastocrator Kaloyan and the 40th anniversary of the inclusion of the monument in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
For all residents of the "Boyana" district, Friday, December 9, 2022 will be Open day, in which they will be able to visit the church completely free of charge upon presentation of an ID card with an address in the neighborhood.
