The National History Museum is participating in the unique project of the world famous Swedish rock band Sabaton "History Rocks".
On the November 11, 2023 (Saturday), 11:00 a.m. and 13:00 p.m., and November 18, 2023 (Saturday), 11:00 a.m. and 13:00 p.m., the museum's Plenary Hall will screen the 67-minute music film, which features songs from Sabaton's 10th studio album, The War To End All Wars. The film vividly tells the stories of the First World War, giving viewers a better understanding of what the songs on the album were written about. It is a musical and historical adventure covering various themes. One of them is about the military actions at Doiran, on the Macedonian front, and the heroism of the troops led by Gen. Vladimir Vazov.
The movie "The War To End All Wars", created in collaboration with Yarnhub Animation Studios is a concise, thought provoking and emotionally charged work with a strong focus on storytelling. The filmmakers do a lot of research and effort to ensure that it portrays the story as accurately as possible. The History Rocks project is an ode to the First World War and takes viewers on an educational journey through some of the most harrowing stories from the period of one of the most devastating wars and the first major disaster of the 20th century. The animated film production is in English, but will be broadcast with Bulgarian subtitles.
Sabaton have a huge fan base (over 100 million listeners a year) consisting of people of all ages and nationalities, and the band's music is based on historical facts.
Historian Hristo Hristov from the National History Museum will give a brief introduction to the Bulgarian participation in the First World War, with an emphasis on the military actions at Doiran. Thus, the museum in the film's world premiere and possibly the largest worldwide museum campaign of its kind.
