
Dr. James Fraser, curator of the exhibition, was on a two-day visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of the director of the National History Museum.
The Panagyur Hoard is part of the exhibition 'Luxury and Power: From Persia to Greece' at the British Museum in London
One of the most remarkable Bulgarian treasures - the Panagyur Treasure went to London to be included in the exhibition "Luxury and Power: From Persia to Greece" at the British Museum, London. It will be officially opened on May 4, 2023.
The exhibition traces the relationship between wealth and politics in the first millennium BC, presenting dazzling objects from Europe to Asia.
In connection with the upcoming exhibition, at the invitation of Prof. Dr. Bonnie Petrunova, Director of the National History Museum, a series of meetings were held with the curator of the exhibition "Luxury and Power: From Persia to Greece", Dr. Jamie Fraser. As a result of the talks, the largest museum institution in Bulgaria agreed on future professional relations with the British Museum for the exchange of good practices, experts in the field of museum work, archeology and cultural heritage.
Together with a team from the National History Museum, Dr. Fraser visited the museum's permanent exhibition, visited the Boyan Church and the Valley of the Thracian Kings.
Dr Jamie Fraser is lead curator of the exhibition 'Luxury and Power: From Persia to Greece'. He was previously Senior Curator at the Nicholson Museum at the University of Sydney. Dr Fraser completed his PhD in Near Eastern Archeology at the University of Sydney in 2015. He has carried out archaeological fieldwork in Jordan, Syria, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kashmir, Greece, Cambodia, Australia and the Solomon Islands.
Directed the North Jordan Tombs Project as part of his PhD, researching Bronze Age burial monuments in eastern Jordan.
