Iren Velichkova - Yamami has lived in Japan for more than 30 years. Her hobby, from an early age, is to embroider. Over the years, embroidery has taken her to different parts of the world. She is a long-time researcher in the field of needlework and embroidery from all over the world with numerous awards from international competitions and exhibitions.
A flag of Bulgaria in embroidery was donated by Mrs. Irene Yamami to the National History Museum
Mrs. Irene Yamami contacted the National History Museum with the desire to donate her unique work - a hand-embroidered map of Bulgaria (embroidered with 144 stitches characteristic of different parts of the country), which in recent years has been traveling around the world and has established itself as one of the recognizable symbols of the cultural heritage of our country.
