The National History Museum presents the latest archaeological discoveries of the 2021 season in Kavarna

At the beginning of the archaeological season 2022 on Cape Kaliakra, for another year the National History Museum is pleased to present and familiarize the residents and guests of the city of Kavarna with the latest archaeological discoveries of the 2021 season made in the medieval necropolis.

In the lobby of the Kavarna municipal administration, finds from the excavations of the ancient and medieval fortress of Kaliakra from last summer are on display, part of the traditional NIM exhibition "Ancient finds. New discoveries. Archaeological Season 2021”.

Presented are exceptional finds from the medieval necropolis located in the Inner City of Kaliakra. Last summer they discovered 68 finds, 19 of which were mostly buttons and earrings. The leading position is occupied by coins, and among them there is an interesting copper coin related to Tsar Ivan Alexander, which numismatists define as a local Black Sea issue. Visitors will have the opportunity to see late antique coins, coins of Sultan Bayezid the Lightning, as well as Tatar and local Bulgarian coins.
