The collection is dedicated in connection with the archaeological survey of the "Bukelon" fortress near the village of Matochina, which began in 2017 and continued in the following years 2018, 2019, 2021.

Academic supervisor is Ch. Assistant Dr. Mariela Inkova with the participation of Panayot Antonov from the National History Museum, chap. assistant Dr. Georgi Sengalevich from NAIM, Irena Ruseva from IM-Svilengrad and Dr. Kalina Yordanova from the National History Museum. The movable cultural values ​​discovered during the excavations reflect the multi-layered nature of the site: from the late phase of the Early Iron Age, the Late Roman - Late Antique period, the Medieval era and the Ottoman period. Among the more interesting finds, a pencil dove of the Great Falconer of the Byzantine Emperor from the end of the XNUMXth century and a bone handle for a tool or tool (?) with the image of a dog, XNUMXth century, deserve attention. The collection includes a small part of the finds related to life in the fortress , the coins are kept in the Numismatics and Sphragistics collection, and most of them are in the IM - Svilengrad.
